Logos: Apple (1977)

Designed by Rob Janoff

Here´s an interesting interview of Janoff. Apparently there´s lot of interesting tidbits about this design.

” What does the bite in the apple represents? Is it a reference to a computing term byte? Is it a reference to the biblical event when Eve bit into the forbidden fruit? Is the fruit itself referencing the discovery of gravity by Newton when an apple fell on his head while sitting under the tree?” (grabbed from the interview)

Logos: Centre Pompidou
Sketches by Jean Widmer from the seventies. It should be obvious what inspired to this logo, if not go here.
It´s a shame Widmer´s work hasn´t been studied and put out there more eagerly. I was trying to find information on the net and for the most part was left unanswered.

I started skimming and scanning through my art/tourist postcard collection. I noticed how brilliant logo Centre Pompidou has!

This discovery made me establish a new series for blog posts: logos. Those of which will get posted has the relation to logos (the reason). I think that´s essential to good logo design.
